DXRacer D Series vs. Other DXRacer Series
DX Racer offers a wide variety of chair lines as a company focused on making premium chairs for both gaming and traditional offices. The D series or Drifting series is the premier tier for DX Racer office chairs comparable to the Racing series for gaming.
They are made with more styled back patterns but still offer extensive comfortable padding so you can look like a trendsetter in your office without looking too garish and playful. These chairs can handle a weight of up to 200 pounds but are primarily made for someone around 170.
Though the multifunctional models can suit up to 225 pounds. The maximum height for the user should be around 5’10”. So these chairs are made for the average size person and are probably the best choice for the generic male or female looking for a stylish office chair.
DXRacer D Series Review : In-depth Look
Let us explore this chair further in this review. We have already established that it is built as the premium line. For this reason, it is more expensive than the DXRacer R series and the DXRacer and F series.
Design and Features
The D series has six design styles to choose from for the customer who is looking for something professional or something colorful. The patterns range from a diamond patchwork to multicolored racing arrows so there is probably something that appeals to your sentiments.
The conventional models has the same optimal weight capacity of 200 lbs (90.7 kg) and maximum of 225 lbs (102 kg). The multi-functional models can withstand 250 lbs (113.4 kg)
The Design patterns available have been mentioned above.
The other two styles are a straight line barred patch work and a more traditional racing style design for an office chair with more flare than you will find in the other designs.
You can get an all black design with simple colored outlines or go for the color, however if you are looking for an especially aggressive design many of the styles might be a bit too tame for your liking.
Between the different styles we also have different configurations for people who differ in size. The basic D series chair is built to fit a user around 5’9″ and weighing less than 200 pounds while the multi-functional models allow a slightly higher cap of 225 pounds – 250 lbs though both are made for a user around 170 pounds.
All models are made of a nice breathable material for marathon gaming sessions without too much sweat buildup. However, when it comes to premium materials DXRacer OH/DJ188 takes the crown with its its Full Grain leather upholstery.
The most breathable upholstery is provided by the DXRacer OH/DM132 with its strong mesh. However, the fabric is much prone to getting dirty very quickly. Plus any spills would be hard to remove.
The highlight of these chairs like any chair made to compete on the premium market is their ergonomic build. Comfort was a key factor in the design of these chairs so you don’t ever feel like getting up. If you do need to though these chairs are responsive enough that you don’t sink in even if they do have a bit of a weird magnetism that pulls your back to your seat.
These chairs provide a nice amount of back support with an included lumbar support pillow. This is a good addition for some extra support however if you need extra, or medicated level support then it might not be sufficient.
However if you are just interested in being able to use your office chair for hours on end without back problems springing up while prolonging your backs sustainability then the D series chairs should work quite well for you.
Following up the support that every premium chair should have is a level of adjustability that is on an equally high tier. Adjustability is a key factor in order to ensure you can always find a position that is both comfortable and supportive.
With that in mind we have reclining functionality that allows you to go back to near 180 degrees. Though this will differ a bit from model to model they all hit the necessary 135 for you to get a nice relaxed rest when you need to. With a strong base along with the rest of the materials tipping is a minimal issue.
To stay with the reclining we also have adjustable height functions so you can stay in the action even when you want to get your lean on. With a simple pull on the control the chair moves up and down thanks to a responsive mechanism. Definitely makes for a useful addition when boredom strikes and you need to shake it up a bit.
We have three dimension armrests so you can maintain comfort in some models. Nicely padded the armrest also have the moves to fit your groove as they can move forward back up or down. You can pivot them and tilt them so as your height and recline change to your will you can keep your armrests in a good position to maintain your productivity.
The D series is made for a lower weight than the others but still sports a premium price thanks to the high level of adjustability. Although you can find much cheaper versions, the best of the drifting series can get quite expensive.
For the features, the price is quite reasonable.
Mobility and Base
You can find the base in either silver or black metal or aluminum base and it is definitely made for the long haul with the strength to support someone over 200 pounds quite easily. If you are putting stress on the chair its probably not affecting this base too much.
Five spokes connect to the wheels for a nice bit of coverage on the base to maintain stability even decently on uneven flooring. The wheels follow up the strong base as these are not your standard office chair wheels.
They are made of a strong polyurethane material that feels rubbery to the touch. They are available in 2 and 3 inch depending on the model. These wheels glide smoothly along even if they are dealing with an encroaching carpet. Everything moves together at a silent pitch that you would expect to find in a premium chair.
Construction and Build Quality
One of the biggest headaches when it comes to any modern furniture especially with easy access companies like Amazon is how easy it is to construct the product once it gets there.
While most chairs will take a few hours to put together I am happy to say the DXRacer chairs are simple in comparison. It shouldn’t take more than an hour to put the chair together and many users might be done in half an hour.
Outside of getting faulty parts in delivery there is not much that will determine your overall comfort with any chair more than the build quality. The D series uses thick and sturdy padding that is also just as comfortable and soft as it is durable.
Along with a nice quality leather exterior even if you don’t put the chair together it does not take to much of an imagination to figure out ways to squeeze comfort out of this setup. With a strong steel frame chairs that weight around 50 pounds and up that are made to last gets a nice fat check for DXRacer.
This is an area where some people might look in another direction but you have to ask yourself how much you are willing to spend on quality. A DXRacer D series chair can cost anywhere from the low 300’s to the high 600’s so the pricing backs up the premium quality.
As you move up in pricing you will find differing support features and adjustability. You might also find higher quality materials as you surf through the different models.
The price is not something you can ignore though as they are a bit steep, however the chairs are made of high quality materials in creative styles so in comparison to the competition they are quite appropriate.
When you are paying so much for a product you expect to find a high level of support to back up your purchase and whether DXRacer achieves that is up to some discord.
The steel construction comes with a lifetime warranty so thats great. The padding and the rest however only have two years just long enough for you to stay on your toes about issues at the very end.
DXRacer D Series Review Conclusion
The DXRacer Drifting series has a variety of chairs to suit anyone looking for a premium office chair.
The material alone is enough to be impressed, but the ergonomic design and special features add an extra level of splendor. Still all of that won’t be enough to convince everyone to fork over the bucket of cash required to purchase one of these chairs.
Overall though if you have the means then you should probably make it happen. The neck pillow is not adjustable on some models but as long as you are willing to invest the perfect office chair can be found in the D series.
